Storms of Chaos
Welcome to my game page. If you're here, you're
either lost or you wish to know about my Hero System RPG. In either
case, I should tell you a little about what this game is about.
If you are unfamiliar with the Hero System, it is a point-based
role playing game designed for a variety of genres, from mideaval to
futuristic and a whole lot of in between. In my particular game: Storms Of Chaos, players take the role of
contemporary citizens of Earth who in actuality live in two worlds.
Earth is everything you see around you today.
The year is 2007. The planet has the usual complement of
wars,
poverty, scientific breakthroughs and hope for the future, but there is
a shadow world along side and you must decide how much of it you will
immerse yourself in. This world is inhabited by magical
creatures, spell-weavers, priests of forgotten religions, all either
good or evil. This shadow world is run by beings that are
barely known. They are called simply The Cabal, and they do
not
permit the shadow world to come into the light. They conceal the
existence of magic and the supernatural.
They have allies in all segments of the population, from politics
to law enforcement to the media, and in all countries and all cities of
the world. Their only slogan is: "The world must not know"
No one is certain of their origins, although theories abound, but
they have been around for at least a couple thousand years.
At least that is what people say. The only
proof of this Cabal is that whenever "accidents' happen, or someone gets it into their head to
expose magic and bring to light anything more than fantastic tales with
no evidence, those people are somehow made to forget and their
'evidence' is either altered or vanishes completely. Sometimes,
those who attempted the revelation vanish themselves. Some say as
a warning to others, others say that some are immuned to 'forgetting'
and must be dealt with another way.
Not everyone is an ally of the Cabal. There
are some who passively oppose their argument, but they do not act
against them because to do that is to invite destruction. The
Cabal allows dissent in thought, but not in action, so the argument
remains. Others are part of this world not by their own choice;
through birth or accident, and most everyone is simply trying to get by
as best they can. Some fight each other, and others are allies.
All of them respect the rules of the Cabal. If you have
knowledge of magic, you are part of this world. You are
immediately found and the Golden Rule is explained to you. That
is the only warning you will get. If you disobey, first you are
ridiculed so that you will join the fringe groups that believe but have
no proof. However, if you have proof, then they will come for
you. The Cabal is not a secret society. They are THE secret
society, with influence and ability that the Illuminati can only have
wet dreams about.
At least that is what people say.
Now that you know a little about the theme of the game, here is some information about the rules of the game.
